It is a highly efficient, reliable, and widely used core component in modern refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems.
 

Due to their advantages in efficiency, quietness, reliability, compactness, and variable capacity operation, scroll compressors have become the compressor of choice in the HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) industry, particularly for residential and light commercial systems.

The fixed scroll (stationary scroll) is mounted to the compressor casing. The orbiting scroll is driven by the motor shaft to move in a small-radius orbital path relative to the fixed scroll. Their scroll wraps intermesh precisely. As the orbiting scroll moves, pairs of crescent-shaped gas pockets are formed between the wraps. Gas enters through a port near the periphery of the scrolls. As the orbiting scroll continues its path, these gas pockets are gradually moved towards the center of the scrolls while simultaneously decreasing in volume, resulting in continuous compression.
